Abbeville completed the 2016 season with a 4-7 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 2A region two, the Yellow Jackets earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Abbeville's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Southern Choctaw by a score of 40-26. It marked the first time since the 2012 season that the Yellow Jackets qualified for the playoffs. Since 2010, Abbeville has gone a combined 34-40. Their 46.0% winning percentage ranks 31st in Class 2A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Abbeville has managed to compile a record of 118-157. Last year the Ashford Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in sixth place in Class 4A region two. The Yellow Jackets closed out the regular season with a loss to Wicksburg by a score of 45-14. Abbeville and Ashford have met a total of 48 times on the football field. The Yellow Jackets have a 22-23-3 record against the Yellow Jackets.
