 2018 Preview 


       Tallassee completed the 2017 season with a 10-2 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 4A region three, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Tallassee reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Bibb County by a score of 41-16.

       The Tigers won as many games as in any season since 1999.

       Since 2010, Tallassee has gone a combined 62-31. Their 67.0% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 5A over the past eight seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Tallassee has managed to compile a record of 154-114. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 5A and 113rd in the AHSAA.




       The Tigers are led by head coach Mike Battles Jr. who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 49-22 over the past six seasons at Tallassee. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times. They have won one region crown with Coach Battles Jr..

       Coach Battles Jr.'s overall record as a head football coach in twenty-one season stands at 166-77 (68.3%). His 166 wins rank 21st among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Battles Jr.'s teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seventeen times and won five region championships.

       The Tallassee Tigers will play in Class 5A region two during the 2018 season. The Tigers move up in classification to Class 5A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move.

       The Tigers enter the 2018 season riding a 5 game regular season winning streak. They have won 6 straight games on their home turf at J.E. Hot Obrien Stadium.

       The Tigers will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region two this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2007 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2018.

      

       The Tigers open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Catholic Montgomery on Friday, August 24 at J.E. Hot Obrien Stadium. Last year the Catholic Montgomery Knights finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in first place in Class 4A region two. The Knights lost in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs to UMS-Wright by a score of 28-14.

       Tallassee and Catholic Montgomery have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 3-1-0 record against the Knights. They last met in 1957 with Tallassee winning by a score of 25-6.

       Tallassee returns 4A All-State  receiver Kalvin Levett. He was named to the honorable mention team last season. The Tigers also return  athlete Trent Cochran-Gill. He was named to the first team.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Collinsville completed the 1931 season with a record of 1-4-5. The five ties will forever be a state record since all games are now decided by overtime.
