1957 Gadsden

1957 Gadsden
 Record: 9-0-1
 Head Coach: Jerry Watford

The 1957 Gadsden  were chosen as Class 2A  State Champions by the Birmingham News.
 Summary:

The Gadsden Tigers were led by a ferocious defense that allowed a total of six points the entire season. The defense allowed opponents only 673 yards rushing and 169 yards passing. Only one touchdown was scored against the Tiger defense all season when Pat Trammell scored for Scottsboro in a 27-6 rout. He scored on a one yard quarterback sneak.

The offense rolled up 2,343 yards rushing and gained 320 passing as they did not need to gamble by throwing the football during most of their games. Senior halfback Harry Littleton rushed for over 1,000 yards and scored 13 touchdowns to lead the Tigers.

The 0-0 tie with Etowah was played in terrible weather conditions that prevented either team from getting their offenses untracked.
Coach Watford was assisted by Fred Newcombe, Jack Green and Bill Abston.
