 The 1962 Linden Red Devils were chosen as Class 1A  State Champions by the Birmingham Post-Herald.
 Summary:
 
Linden barely nosed out Altoona for the state championship. The Red Devil's schedule was among the most difficult in the state for any classification. They defeated four teams from higher classifications including 4A Vigor which has the seventh largest enrollment in the state. Linden defeated Vigor 18-13 to cap the undefeated season. The Red Devils also beat Marengo County 7-0 and Choctaw County 8-6. Both teams were undefeated when they played. Linden also won the Marengo County Championship and the Black Belt title.
