1957 Sylacauga Aggies

 1957    Sylacauga Aggies
 Record: 8-0-1
 Head Coach: Tom Calvin

The 1957 Sylacauga Aggies were chosen Class AA State Champions by the Birmingham News from District 3.

The Sylacauga Aggies claimed a state championship by rushing the ball for 2,234 yards against all their foes in 1957. Led by Captain Don Machen at left halfback, who carried the ball 87 times for 576 yards, the Aggies had little trouble disposing of most opponents.

Machen accounted for 1,129 yards of total offense while scoring 11 touchdowns and three extra points. Bobby Porter gained 496 yards rushing from his fullback position while George Lawson added 433 yards on 70 carries. Ray Collins totaled 227 yards on only 35 carries and Doug Lewis, who played both tackle and fullback, added 251 yards on 41 carries.

The title was the second for the Aggies as they also laid claim to a Birmingham News championship in 1954.
