Summary:
         Vestavia Hills, for the second time in two seasons, finished as the runner-up in the Class 6A state championship game. Enterprise claimed its first playoff state championship. The Wildcats scored two first half touchdowns and made it hold up against a Vestavia Hills rally.
        John Wilson hit Pat Schiffman on an 18-yard touchdown pass with just 2:56 remaining in the game but a failed two-point conversion try gave the win to the Enterprise Wildcats.

Hazlewood won five consecutive state championships from 1988-1992. During this span the Golden Bears won 29 playoff games in a row.
