Summary:
              Crossville's Rodney White scored on touchdown runs of 12 and 8 yards as the Lions defeated Elba for the 1986 3A football state championship 22-10. Crossville ended the season 15-0 for their second undefeated season in school history.
              The Elba Tigers began the season with  a 1-4 mark but would come back to reel off nine consecutive victories and reach the title game. The Tigers also lost in the championship game last season. Elba scored the first points of the game following a Scott Brown interception that set up a 40 yard drive.

Morris Higginbotham coached three different teams to divisional state championships in the 1950s. He won titles at Walnut Grove in 1952, West Blocton in 1955 and Enterprise in 1960.
