A battle of the Tigers. The 1964 Monroe County vs. T.R. Miller game would come down to the final play of the game before T.R. Miller pulled out a hard fought 27-26 victory. The clock expired with Monroe County on the T.R. Miller one yard line after a great goal line stand by the visiting Tigers of T.R. Miller.

The game was played on October 30th in Monroeville. Fourth ranked T.R. Miller came into the game undefeated with a 5-0-1 record lead by all-state players Mike Sasser, Chuck Cunningham and Sammy Franklin. The Tigers would finish the season ranked second by the AP voters and were led by Darrell Fitts who would be named Coach of the Year by the AP later that season.

The 1964 edition of the Monroe County Tigers were led by Coy Tatum, an all state honorable mention as selected by the Birmingham News and Birmingham Post-Herald.

Monroe County entered the game riding a four game winning streak in 1964 and had beaten the Tigers from T.R. Miller the past four seasons. They were led onto the gridiron by all-state player Coy Tatum at back. The Tigers would finish the season at 5-5 against some very tough competition.
