Buddy Anderson, the longtime football coach at Vestavia Hills and the winningest football coach in AHSAA history, will be inducted into the National High School Hall of Fame on July 2.

Anderson become the fourth high school coach from the state and 12th Alabamian to be enshrined in the National High School Hall of Fame administered by the National Federation of State High School Associations, according to the AHSAA.

Others include former AHSAA executive directors Cliff Harper (1987), Bubba Scott (1990) and Dan Washburn (2011); coaches Glenn Daniel of Luverne (1999); Wallace Guy O'Brien (1992) and Jim Tate of St. Paul's (2013); athletes Bart Starr (1989) of Sidney Lanier, Pat Sullivan (2012) of John Carroll and Ozzie Newsome (2014) of Colbert County; and contest officials Dan Gaylord (1988) and Sam Short (2007).
