            Childersburg High Left Half-back played four years varsity football and was game captain for 2 games. He was a good safety man, pass receiver and holder for extra points. He gained 2,308 total yards, caught 19 passes for 360 yards, 4 punt returns for 75, 70, 65 and 60 yard touchdowns. He was named Most Valuable Player (team) trophy; Most Valuable Back trophy; All-County, 2 years; All-State, 1 year; Honorable Mention All-American, 1 year; Babe Ruth baseball All-Stars, 2 years). Played baseball 4 years, basketball 3 years, and track 1 year.
