            Played tight end and linebacker on varsity and was captain. Earned All-State and Most Valuable Defensive Player. As tight end had 20 receptions and 9 touchdowns and averaged 16 tackles per game as linebacker.

The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
