Jimmy Luttrell, a versatile athlete from Jacksonville High was good in basketball, baseball, track, and foot ball. He played varsity football three years, two of which his teammates elected him captain of the squad. Jimmys grid statistics read - holds school record for total number tackles in one game - season - career. His specialty was middle linebacker and punter. His honors include All-County (two-years); All-State (two-years); Honorable mention All-American; Outstanding Lineman at Jacksonville.
Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
