            Pettus honors include All-County three years, All-State, honorable mention All-America. He has played varsity football four years, captained the squad two seasons; and was highly regarded for his running, passing, pass receiving, and pass defending. Also played basketball, baseball and track.





Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Bart Starr received coaching from Kentucky great Babe Parilli his senior season at Sidney Lanier in hopes of joining Bear Bryant at Kentucky. He had to settle for Alabama.
