 High School Bio:

            Rankin was named All-Calhoun County two years, Calhoun County Back of the Year in 1958, Class AA Back of the Year, All-State, All-Southern, All-American. He also played basketbal1, baseball, track and tennis. He played varsity football four years, served as captain in 1958 and performed kickoffs, extra point, quick kick and passing duties. Rankin scored 102 points on 24 touchdowns and 18 conversions as a senior at Piedmont. He rushed for 1,102 yards and averaged 5.6 yards a carry. He also completed 35 of 54 passes for 450 yards.





Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
