The Lions open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Chelsea on Friday, August 26 at Richard Conkle Stadium. Last year the Chelsea Hornets finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in third place in Class 6A region 3. The Hornets lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Blount by a score of 41-28. Briarwood and Chelsea have met a total of 34 times on the football field.
