 2016 Preview 


       Last year Columbia finished fifth in Class 5A region 8 with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Since 2010, Columbia has gone a combined 16-44. Their 27.0% winning percentage ranks 51st in Class 6A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Columbia has not won much with a record of 31-69. Their 31.0% winning percentage ranks 53rd in Class 6A and 341st in the AHSAA.

       The Eagles are led by head coach Chris Hancock who is entering his second season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 6-14 over the past two seasons at Columbia. The Eagles have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hancock.

       Coach Hancock's overall record as a head football coach in four seasons stands at 12-28 (30.0%).

      

      The Columbia Eagles will play in Class 6A region 8 during the 2016 season. The Eagles move up in classification to Class 6A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move.

       This season, the Eagles will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in Region 8.

       The Eagles open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Albertville on Friday, August 19 at McCord Field. Last year the Albertville Aggies finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in second place in Class 6A region 7. The Aggies lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Minor by a score of 37-35.

       Columbia and Albertville have met a total of 5 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 0-5-0 record against the Aggies. They last met in 2018 with Albertville winning by a score of 33-0.
