 2016 Preview 


       Last year Dora finished eighth in Class 5A region 5 with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.  The defense allowed a team record 484 points last season.

       Since 2010, Dora has gone a combined 34-35. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 33rd in Class 4A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Dora has managed to compile a record of 135-140. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 4A and 194th in the AHSAA.

       The Bulldogs are led by head coach Mike Cain who is entering his first season at the helm. His team finished with a 0-10 record in his first season at Dora. The Bulldogs have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Cain.

       Coach Cain's overall record as a head football coach in three seasons stands at 10-21 (32.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach Cain's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time .

       The Bulldogs enter the 2016 season in the middle of a 12 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

      The Dora Bulldogs will play in Class 4A region 6 during the 2016 season. The Bulldogs may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 5A to 4A. They will compete in region 6 this year.

       This season, the Bulldogs will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in Region 6.

       The Bulldogs open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Corner on Friday, August 19 at Corner Stadium. Last year the Corner Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in seventh place in Class 5A region 5. The closed out the regular season with a loss to Cordova by a score of 36-16.

       Dora and Corner have met a total of 49 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 32-15-2 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 2023 with Corner winning by a score of 21-14.
