 2016 Preview

Last year Ider finished seventh in Class 2A region 7 with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Since 2010, Ider has gone a combined 31-32. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 29th in Class 2A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Ider has managed to compile a record of 114-150. Their 43.0% winning percentage ranks 36th in Class 2A and 255th in the AHSAA.

The Hornets are led by head coach Brent Tinker who is entering his thirteenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 56-80 over the past thirteen seasons at Ider. Under his direction the Hornets have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have won one region crown with Coach Tinker.

Coach Tinker's overall record as a head football coach in thirteen seasons stands at 56-80 (41.2%). Over the course of his career, Coach Tinker's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times and won one region championship.

The Ider Hornets will play in Class 2A region 6 during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Hornets remain in 2A but move from region 7 over to region 6.

It will be an uphill battle for the Hornets if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in Region 6 this season.

The Hornets open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Valley Head on Friday, August 26 at Tiger Stadium. Last year the Valley Head Tigers finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in fourth place in Class 1A region 7. The Tigers lost in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs to Wadley by a score of 50-0.

Ider and Valley Head have met a total of 63 times on the football field. The Hornets have a 30-32-1 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2023 with Valley Head winning by a score of 61-14.
