 2016 Preview 


       With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 5A region 5, the Rams earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Ramsay's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Guntersville by a score of 14-6.

       Since 2010, Ramsay has gone a combined 20-23. Their 46.0% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 6A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Ramsay has managed to compile a record of 20-23. Their 46.0% winning percentage ranks 37th in Class 6A and 223rd in the AHSAA.

       The Rams are led by head coach Reuben Nelson who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 20-23 over the past four seasons at Ramsay. Under his direction the Rams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Nelson.

       Coach Nelson's overall record as a head football coach in ten seasons stands at 60-51 (54.1%). Over the course of his career, Coach Nelson's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times and won two region championships.

      

      The Ramsay Rams will play in Class 6A region 5 during the 2016 season. The Rams move up in classification to Class 6A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move.

       The Rams should contend for a playoff spot in Region 5 this season.

       The Rams open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Pinson Valley on Friday, August 26 at Lawson Field. Last year the Pinson Valley Indians finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in third place in Class 6A region 6. The Indians lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Austin by a score of 35-7.

       Ramsay and Pinson Valley have met a total of 7 times on the football field. The Rams have a 2-5-0 record against the Indians. They last met in 2020 with Ramsay winning by a score of 14-13.
