 2016 Preview

Last year Sparkman finished seventh in Class 7A region 4 with a 1-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.  The 336 points scored by the Senators last year were a team record in a single season.

Since 2010, Sparkman has gone a combined 13-47. Their 22.0% winning percentage ranks 31st in Class 7A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Sparkman has not won much with a record of 80-174. Their 32.0% winning percentage ranks 31st in Class 7A and 337th in the AHSAA.

The Senators are led by head coach Chris Cagle who is entering his second season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 7-13 over the past two seasons at Sparkman. The Senators have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Cagle.

Coach Cagle's overall record as a head football coach in four seasons stands at 9-31 (22.5%).

The Sparkman Senators will play in Class 7A region 4 during the 2016 season.

The Senators have a good chance to earn one of the playoff slots for Region 4 this season.

The Senators open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Athens on Friday, August 26 at Golden Eagle Stadium. Last year the Athens Golden Eagles finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in seventh place in Class 6A region 8. The ended last season on a positive note with a win over Deshler by a score of 56-7 after failing to gain a playoff spot.
