Danny Raines graduated from high school in Woodbridge, Va. in 1987. He received his Bachelor of Science Physical Education from Auburn in 1991 and his Master of Education in 1992.
He coached at Auburn from 1992-1998 before moving to Lyman Ward in 1999 for a single season as the head basketball coach. He was at Russell County for one year before serving as the head basketball coach and assistant football coach at Highland Home for two years.
In 2003, he moved home to Berry as the head football coach where he has served for fourteen seasons. His teams at Berry went 102-59 and 9-12 in the playoffs.
in 2017, Raines took over the head coaching duties at Headland High School. His first team finished with a 1-9 record but he turned that around in 2018 by finishing 10-2.
His squads won ten games in 2009, 2011, 2015 and 2018. In 2020 he moved to Morgan Academy in the A.I.S.A as the head football coach.
