 Lamar Harris

Lamar Harris was a Lanett High School and Samford University graduate.

Harris became the head football coach at Hubbertville in the fall of 1979 where he remained for 39 seasons. His tenure at Hubbertville is one of the longest of all-time in Alabama high school football history.

During his 16 years as softball coach, his teams won three State Championships and compiled a 403-135 record. He coached girls basketball for 23 years and captured two state titles with an overall record of 293-170. His 24 boys basketball teams won four area crowns.

Coach Harris 43 year tenure at Hubbertville ties him with Buddy Anderson (41) at Vestavia Hills as the longest in state history. His football teams have won five region titles and qualified for the playoffs on 19 occasions.

His 2014 Hubbertville team reached the Super Seven championship game with a perfect 13-0 record only to lose to Maplesville in the finals.

Harris coached in the 1999 state North-South all-star football game. He was inducted into the Alabama High School Athletic Associations Hall of Fame.
