 2018 Preview

A.L. Johnson completed the 2017 season with a 4-6 record. Last year A.L. Johnson just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 1A region one with a 3-4 region record.

A.L. Johnson was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Eagles want to be competitive. They only averaged 16.6 points a game.

Since 2010, A.L. Johnson has gone a combined 38-63. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 31st in Class 1A over the past eight seasons.

Over the past 29 seasons, A.L. Johnson has managed to compile a record of 107-147. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 27th in Class 1A and 194th in the AHSAA.

The Eagles will be under the direction of new head football coach Bruce Craig as they enter the 2018 season.

The A.L. Johnson Eagles will play in Class 1A region three during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Eagles remain in 1A but move from region one over to region three.

With a little luck and some improvement, the Eagles could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region three this season. A.L. Johnson missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season in 2018.

The Eagles open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Fruitdale on Thursday, August 23 at A.L. Johnson Stadium. Last year the Fruitdale Pirates finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in eighth place in Class 1A region one.

A.L. Johnson and Fruitdale have met a total of 22 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 13-9-0 record against the Pirates. They last met in 2017 with A.L. Johnson winning by a score of 42-22.
