2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
B.B. Comer finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year B.B. Comer finished sixth in Class 3A region three with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Tigers last playoff victory came during the 2000 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. B.B. Comer was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Tigers want to be competitive. They only averaged 15.0 points a game. B.B. Comer struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 42.2 points a game. The Tigers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-17 record. Since 2010, the B.B. Comer football program has struggled with a record of 22-60. Over the past 25 seasons, B.B. Comer has managed to compile a record of 89-162. Their 36.0% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 3A and 305th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2001. The Tigers will be under the direction of new head football coach Adam Fossett as they enter the 2018 season. Coach Fossett's overall record as a head football coach in ten season stands at 55-54 (50.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Fossett's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times and won one region championship. The B.B. Comer Tigers will play in Class 3A region six during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Tigers remain in 3A but move from region three over to region six. This season, the Tigers will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region six. The Tigers open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Winterboro on Friday, August 31 at Legion Stadium. Last year the Winterboro Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 1A region four. The Bulldogs lost in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs to Georgiana by a score of 64-0. B.B. Comer and Winterboro have met a total of 34 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 25-9-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2013 with B.B. Comer winning by a score of 32-6. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
