Under his direction the Lions have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Black. Coach Black's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 28-8 (77.8%). The Brooks Lions will play in Class 4A region eight during the 2018 season. The Lions may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 5A to 4A. They will compete in region eight this year. The Lions open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Lauderdale County on Thursday, August 23 at Robert Earl Grisham Stadium. Last year the Lauderdale County Tigers finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in third place in Class 3A region eight. The Tigers lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to J.B. Pennington by a score of 33-7. Brooks and Lauderdale County have met a total of 50 times on the football field. The Lions have a 30-20-0 record against the Tigers.
