2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Brookwood finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Brookwood finished seventh in Class 6A region four with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Panthers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2011 season and would love to end that streak this year. They have never won a playoff game in the school's history. Brookwood struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 40.2 points a game. Since 2010, Brookwood has gone a combined 27-54. Their 33.0% winning percentage ranks 48th in Class 6A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Brookwood has not won much with a record of 58-184. Their 24.0% winning percentage ranks 54th in Class 6A and 366th in the AHSAA. The Panthers have struggled on the football field with only three winning seasons during this time. The Panthers are led by head coach Tracy Dunn who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 6-24 over the past three seasons at Brookwood. The Panthers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Dunn. Coach Dunn's overall record as a head football coach in sixteen season stands at 39-123 (24.1%). Over the course of his career, Coach Dunn's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times . The Brookwood Panthers will play in Class 6A region four during the 2018 season. This season, the Panthers will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region four. The Panthers open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent West Blocton on Thursday, August 23 at Tiger Field. Last year the West Blocton Tigers finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in third place in Class 4A region four. The Tigers lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to St. James by a score of 62-13. Brookwood and West Blocton have met a total of 69 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 29-37-3 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2017 with West Blocton winning by a score of 46-41. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
