2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Bullock County finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Bullock County finished seventh in Class 4A region two with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Hornets have never qualified for a playoff spot and would love to break that streak this season. The Hornets have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2018. Bullock County was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Hornets want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.4 points a game. Since 2010, the Bullock County football program has struggled with a record of 8-72. Over the past 25 seasons, Bullock County has not won much with a record of 38-199. Their 16.0% winning percentage ranks 57th in Class 3A and 379th in the AHSAA. The Hornets have struggled on the football field with only two winning seasons during this time. Their last winning season was 1997. The Hornets will be under the direction of new head football coach Willie Spears as they enter the 2018 season. Coach Spears' overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 5-7 (41.7%). Over the course of his career, Coach Spears' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time . The Bullock County Hornets will play in Class 3A region three during the 2018 season. The Hornets may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 4A to 3A. They will compete in region three this year. This season, the Hornets will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region three. The Hornets open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Reeltown on Friday, August 24 at Bryant Foster Field.
