 2018 Preview 


       Central completed the 2017 season with a 11-1 record. The Red Devils cruised through the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record going into the post season. Last year Central captured the region two title and a number one seed in the Class 7A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Central made a nice playoff run in 2017, reaching the semi-finals before falling to a very good McGill-Toolen team by the score of 27-26.

       The Red Devils won as many games as in any season since 2011. The 565 points scored by the Red Devils last year were a team record in a single season.

       The high-scoring Central Phenix City offense ranked 5th in the AHSAA. They averaged 47.1 points a game.

       Over the past two seasons the Red Devils have gone 21-3 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Central has gone a combined 73-22. Their 77.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 7A over the past eight seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Central has gone a combined 201-73. Their 73.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 7A and 20th in the AHSAA. The Red Devils have been successful on the football field with twenty-four winning seasons during this time. Their last losing season was 2008.




       The Red Devils are led by head coach Jamey Dubose who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 40-9 over the past four seasons at Central. Under his direction the Red Devils have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have won four region crowns with Coach Dubose.

       Coach Dubose's overall record as a head football coach in twelve season stands at 111-38 (74.5%). His 111 wins rank 49th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Dubose's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eleven times and won seven region championships. Coach Dubose won two state championships prior to arriving at Central, the last coming in 2011 at .

       The Central Red Devils will play in Class 7A region two during the 2018 season.

       The Red Devils enter the 2018 season riding a 17 game regular season winning streak. Central has won 8 consecutive region games.

       The Red Devils enter the season with expectations of not only a region title but reaching the state championship game. They are considered one the favorites in region two and could very well be representing the South in the Class 7A Super Seven come December.

       The Red Devils open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Mays GA on Friday, August 24.

       This will be the second meeting between Central Phenix City and Mays GA on the football field. The Red Devils have a 1-0-0 record against Mays GA. They last met in with

       Central returns 7A All-State  running back Amontae Spivey. He was named to the second team last season. The Red Devils also return  defensive back Devonte Mathews. He was named to the second team. The Red Devils also return  quarterback Peter Parrish. He was named to the honorable mention team.

       College prospects include: AMontae Spivey (6-0, 195) running back, Peter Parrish (6-1, 198) running back, Ray Thornton (6-2, 198) safety,
