2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
D.A.R. completed the 2017 season with a 5-5 record. Last year D.A.R. finished seventh in Class 4A region seven with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Patriots have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2018. Since 2010, D.A.R. has gone a combined 31-52. Their 37.0% winning percentage ranks 39th in Class 4A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 12 seasons, D.A.R. has managed to compile a record of 49-74. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 4A and 274th in the AHSAA. The Patriots are led by head coach Joel Poole who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 5-5 record in his first season at D.A.R.. The Patriots saw improvement from a 2-8 record the season before coach Poole arrived. The Patriots have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Poole. Coach Poole's overall record as a head football coach in thirteen season stands at 64-74 (46.4%). Over the course of his career, Coach Poole's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times and won one region championship. The D.A.R. Patriots will play in Class 4A region seven during the 2018 season. Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. The Patriots will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region seven this season. D.A.R. missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season this year. The Patriots open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Westminster Christian on Friday, August 24 at Louisa St Clair Athletic Field. Last year the Westminster Christian Wildcats finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 4A region seven. The Wildcats lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Saks by a score of 42-21. D.A.R. and Westminster Christian have met a total of 11 times on the football field. The Patriots have a 2-9-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2017 with Westminster Christian winning by a score of 40-23. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
