Dora completed the 2017 season with a 9-3 record. With their 4-2 region record and a second place finish in Class 4A region six, the Bulldogs earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Dora reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Saks by a score of 31-24. The Bulldogs improved in 2017 with their first winning season since 2012. It marked the first time since the 2014 season that the Bulldogs qualified for the playoffs. The Bulldogs had some tough luck last season as they lost three games, all by less than eight points. The Bulldogs hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Lockhart saw improvement as they won nine games following a 4-6 record in 2016. Since 2010, Dora has gone a combined 47-44. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 29th in Class 5A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Dora has managed to compile a record of 124-138. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 36th in Class 5A and 223rd in the AHSAA. The Bulldogs are led by head coach Bart Lockhart who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 9-3 record in his first season at Dora. The Bulldogs saw improvement from a 4-6 record the season before coach Lockhart arrived. Under his direction the Bulldogs have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Lockhart. Dora enters the 2018 season with a string of 6 consecutive wins on their home field at Horace Roberts Field. The Bulldogs will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region seven this season. The Bulldogs open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Cordova on Friday, August 24 at Horace Roberts Field. Last year the Cordova Blue Devils finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in third place in Class 4A region six. The Blue Devils lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Wilson by a score of 35-8. Dora and Cordova have met a total of 101 times on the football field.
