2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Enterprise finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Enterprise finished sixth in Class 7A region two with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Wildcats lost as many games as in any season since 1953. The defense allowed a team record 355 points last season. The Wildcats hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they struggled winning just two games which followed a 10-2 record in 2016. Enterprise struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 35.5 points a game. Since 2010, Enterprise has gone a combined 43-43. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 7A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Enterprise has managed to compile a record of 146-112. Their 57.0% winning percentage ranks 15th in Class 7A and 119th in the AHSAA. The Wildcats are led by head coach David Faulkner who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 36-30 over the past six seasons at Enterprise. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Faulkner. Coach Faulkner's overall record as a head football coach in ten season stands at 65-48 (57.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Faulkner's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times and won one region championship. The Enterprise Wildcats will play in Class 7A region two during the 2018 season. It will be an uphill battle for the Wildcats if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region two this season. After just 2 wins last year, Enterprise will be hoping to become more competitive in the region. The Wildcats open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Dothan on Thursday, August 23 at Rip Hewes Stadium. Last year the Dothan Tigers finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in seventh place in Class 6A region two. The Tigers ended last season on a positive note with a win over Early County GA by a score of 29-20 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Enterprise and Dothan have met a total of 88 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 46-39-3 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2017 with Enterprise winning by a score of 24-17. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
