 2018 Preview 


       Hayden completed the 2017 season with a 5-6 record. With their 4-2 region record and a second place finish in Class 5A region six, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Hayden's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Lee Huntsville by a score of 31-21.

       Since 2010, Hayden has gone a combined 35-49. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 38th in Class 5A over the past eight seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Hayden has not won much with a record of 81-165. Their 33.0% winning percentage ranks 55th in Class 5A and 328th in the AHSAA.




       The Wildcats are led by head coach Keith Register who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 23-31 over the past five seasons at Hayden. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Register.

       Coach Register's overall record as a head football coach in fourteen season stands at 70-82 (46.1%). Over the course of his career, Coach Register's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eight times .

       The Hayden Wildcats will play in Class 5A region seven during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Wildcats remain in 5A but move from region six over to region seven.

       The Wildcats should be in contention for a playoff spot in region seven this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Wildcats open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Springville on Thursday, August 23 at Robert W. Reid Stadium. Last year the Springville Tigers finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in sixth place in Class 5A region six. The Tigers closed out the regular season with a loss to St. Clair County by a score of 26-0.

       Hayden and Springville have met a total of 28 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 9-19-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2017 with Springville winning by a score of 21-20.

Alabama School for the Deaf won Deaf School National Championships in 1971, 1987, 1991, 2000, 2001 and 2002.
