Linden completed the 2017 season with a 7-4 record. With their 5-2 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 1A region one, the Patriots earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Linden's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Maplesville by a score of 49-28. The Patriots hope to get back closer to the 13-1 record in 2016. As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Linden has gone a combined 82-22. Their 79.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 1A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Linden has gone a combined 189-89. Their 68.0% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class 1A and 42nd in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 1999. The Patriots are led by head coach Demetrice Jackson who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 7-4 record in his first season at Linden. Under his direction the Patriots have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Jackson. Coach Jackson's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 7-4 (63.6%). The Linden Patriots will play in Class 1A region three during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Patriots remain in 1A but move from region one over to region three. The Patriots will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region three this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2006 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2018. The Patriots open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Sumter Central on Friday, August 31 at Linden Athletic Field. Last year the Sumter Central Jaguars finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in sixth place in Class 5A region three. The Jaguars closed out the regular season with a loss to Oxford by a score of 47-6. Linden and Sumter Central have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Patriots have a 3-0-0 record against the Jaguars. They last met in with The Patriots also return defensive back Kevin Green.
