Mortimer Jordan completed the 2017 season with a 9-3 record. Last year Mortimer Jordan captured the region six title and a number one seed in the Class 5A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Mortimer Jordan reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Wenonah by a score of 21-14. The defense was very stingy last season as Mortimer Jordan ranked 33rd in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 13.5 points a game. Since 2010, Mortimer Jordan has gone a combined 59-36. Their 62.0% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 5A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Mortimer Jordan has managed to compile a record of 164-103. Their 61.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 5A and 87th in the AHSAA. The Blue Devils are led by head coach Dustan Goode who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 46-17 over the past five seasons at Mortimer Jordan. Under his direction the Blue Devils have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Goode. Coach Goode's overall record as a head football coach in six season stands at 55-20 (73.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach Goode's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times and won two region championships. The Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils will play in Class 5A region five during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Blue Devils remain in 5A but move from region six over to region five. The Blue Devils should be considered one of the favorites for the region five championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Blue Devils have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2011 and expect to be included again when November rolls around. The Blue Devils open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Pleasant Grove on Friday, August 24 at Jimmie Trotter Field. Last year the Pleasant Grove Spartans finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 5A region five.
