Prattville finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 3-6 record. Last year Prattville just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 7A region two with a 2-4 region record. Since 2010, Prattville has gone a combined 54-33. Their 62.0% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 7A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Prattville has gone a combined 216-73. Their 75.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class 7A and 15th in the AHSAA. The Lions have been successful on the football field with twenty-one winning seasons during this time. The Lions will be under the direction of new head football coach Caleb Ross as they enter the 2018 season. Coach Ross' overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 41-20 (67.2%). Over the course of his career, Coach Ross' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times and won two region championships. Coach Ross won a state championship at in 2015. The Prattville Lions will play in Class 7A region two during the 2018 season. The Lions have one of the toughest schedules in Class 7A. Their opponents had a combined record of 68-46 last season. That ranks 8th in Class 7A and 31st in the AHSAA. With a little luck and some improvement, the Lions could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region two this season. Prattville has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2014 but hope to return to the post season this year. The Lions open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Foley on Friday, August 24 at Stanley Jenson Stadium. Last year the Foley Lions finished with an overall record of 5-5 and in fifth place in Class 7A region one. The Lions closed out the regular season with a loss to Theodore by a score of 28-0. Prattville and Foley have met a total of 9 times on the football field. The Lions have a 7-2-0 record against the Lions. They last met in 2014 with Prattville winning by a score of 42-17.
