2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Priceville finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Priceville finished sixth in Class 4A region eight with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Bulldogs have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2018. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Priceville averaged scoring just 13.5 points a game. The Bulldogs also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 44.0 points a game. The Bulldogs would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 2-18 record. Since 2010, the Priceville football program has struggled with a record of 23-58. Over the past 16 seasons, Priceville has not won much with a record of 52-103. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 4A and 313rd in the AHSAA. The Bulldogs will be under the direction of new head football coach Jason Simmons as they enter the 2018 season. The Priceville Bulldogs will play in Class 4A region seven during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Bulldogs remain in 4A but move from region eight over to region seven. With a little luck and some improvement, the Bulldogs could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region seven this season. Priceville missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season in 2018. The Bulldogs open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Good Hope on Friday, August 31 at Bulldog Stadium. Last year the Good Hope Raiders finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in seventh place in Class 4A region six. The Raiders ended last season on a positive note with a win over Hanceville by a score of 29-0 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Priceville and Good Hope have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 1-3-0 record against the Raiders. They last met in 2015 with Priceville winning by a score of 42-14. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
