Sardis completed the 2017 season with a 7-4 record. Last year Sardis captured the region seven title and a number one seed in the Class 4A playoffs. They finished region play with a 5-1 record. It was the first region championship for the Lions since the 2011 season. Sardis's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Cherokee County by a score of 21-14. The Lions won as many games as in any season since 2011. It marked the first time since the 2014 season that the Lions qualified for the playoffs.
