Wilcox Central finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Wilcox Central finished seventh in Class 5A region one with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Jaguars have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2001 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Jaguars last playoff victory came during the 2001 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Wilcox Central averaged scoring just 12.3 points a game. Since 2010, the Wilcox Central football program has struggled with a record of 14-66. Over the past 25 seasons, Wilcox Central has managed to compile a record of 86-162. Their 35.0% winning percentage ranks 53rd in Class 5A and 311st in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2001. The Jaguars are led by head coach Frederick Newton who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 5-15 over the past two seasons at Wilcox Central.
