 2018 Preview 


       Asbury finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year Asbury finished eighth in Class 2A region six with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The defense allowed a team record 494 points last season. The Rams have never qualified for a playoff spot and would love to break that streak this season. The Rams have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2018.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Asbury averaged scoring just 3.6 points a game. The Rams also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 49.4 points a game.

       The Rams would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 0-20 record.

       Asbury is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only six seasons. They have managed a record of 2-38 over the past six years.




       The Rams are led by head coach Jeff Powell who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 0-20 over the past two seasons at Asbury. The Rams have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Powell.

       The Asbury Rams will play in Class 2A region eight during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Rams remain in 2A but move from region six over to region eight.

       The Rams enter the 2018 season in the middle of a 20 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

       This season, the Rams will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region eight. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Asbury will be to simply win some games.

       The Rams open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Brindlee Mountain on Friday, August 24. Last year the Brindlee Mountain Lions finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 3A region seven. The Lions closed out the regular season with a loss to D.A.R. by a score of 50-6.

       Asbury and Brindlee Mountain have met a total of 7 times on the football field. The Rams have a 5-2-0 record against the Lions. They last met in with
