2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ashford finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Ashford finished sixth in Class 4A region two with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Yellow Jackets lost as many games as in any season since 1985. The Yellow Jackets last playoff victory came during the 2002 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Ashford averaged scoring just 9.1 points a game. Since 2010, Ashford has gone a combined 45-58. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 27th in Class 4A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 29 seasons, Ashford has managed to compile a record of 117-142. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 4A and 191st in the AHSAA. The Yellow Jackets will be under the direction of new head football coach Chris Littleton as they enter the 2018 season. Coach Chris' overall record as a head football coach in six season stands at 24-40 (37.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Chris' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times . The Ashford Yellow Jackets will play in Class 4A region two during the 2018 season. The Yellow Jackets have one of the toughest schedules in Class 4A. Their opponents had a combined record of 66-45 last season. That ranks 9th in Class 4A and 38th in the AHSAA. The Yellow Jackets enter the 2018 season in the middle of a 7 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Yellow Jackets will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region two. The Yellow Jackets open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Rehobeth on Friday, August 24 at W.F. Andrews Field. Last year the Rehobeth Rebels finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in fifth place in Class 5A region two. Ashford and Rehobeth have met a total of 77 times on the football field. The Yellow Jackets have a 43-32-2 record against the Rebels. They last met in 2017 with Rehobeth winning by a score of 17-0. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
