 2018 Preview 


       J.U. Blacksher completed the 2017 season with a 6-5 record. With their 3-3 region record and a third place finish in Class 2A region one, the Bulldogs earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. J.U. Blacksher's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Luverne by a score of 47-20.

       Since 2010, J.U. Blacksher has gone a combined 30-54. Their 36.0% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 2A over the past eight seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, J.U. Blacksher has managed to compile a record of 89-160. Their 36.0% winning percentage ranks 44th in Class 2A and 307th in the AHSAA.




       The Bulldogs are led by head coach Wesley Sims who is entering his ninth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 30-54 over the past eight seasons at J.U. Blacksher. Under his direction the Bulldogs have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have won one region crown with Coach Sims.

       Coach Sims' overall record as a head football coach in eight season stands at 30-54 (35.7%).

       The J.U. Blacksher Bulldogs will play in Class 2A region one during the 2018 season.

       The Bulldogs will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region one this season.

       The Bulldogs open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent McIntosh on Friday, August 24 at H.H. Wiggins Field. Last year the McIntosh Demons finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 1A region one. The Demons closed out the regular season with a loss to J.U. Blacksher by a score of 56-20.

       J.U. Blacksher and McIntosh have met a total of 14 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 8-6-0 record against the Demons. They last met in 2017 with J.U. Blacksher winning by a score of 56-20.

       J.U. Blacksher returns 2A All-State  offensive lineman Lane Sims. He was named to the second team last season.
