 2018 Preview 


       Locust Fork completed the 2017 season with a 4-7 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 3A region six, the Hornets earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Locust Fork's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Colbert Heights by a score of 28-0.

       Locust Fork took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2012. The Hornets last playoff victory came during the 2001 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

       Since 2010, Locust Fork has gone a combined 34-49. Their 41.0% winning percentage ranks 38th in Class 3A over the past eight seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Locust Fork has managed to compile a record of 93-157. Their 37.0% winning percentage ranks 46th in Class 3A and 302nd in the AHSAA.




       The Hornets are led by head coach Chris Musso who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 30-23 over the past five seasons at Locust Fork. Under his direction the Hornets have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Musso.

       Coach Musso's overall record as a head football coach in ten season stands at 53-52 (50.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Musso's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times .

       The Locust Fork Hornets will play in Class 3A region five during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Hornets remain in 3A but move from region six over to region five.

       The Hornets will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region five this season.

       The Hornets open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent St. John Paul II on Friday, August 24 at Discovery Middle School. Last year the St. John Paul II Falcons finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in eighth place in Class 5A region eight. The Falcons ended last season on a positive note with a win over Clements by a score of 16-13 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Locust Fork and St. John Paul II have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Hornets have a 0-2-0 record against the Falcons. They last met in with

       Locust Fork returns 3A All-State  offensive lineman Malcom Morgan. He was named to the second team last season.
