Lowndes Academy completed the 2017 season with a 5-5 record. With their 1-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class A region one, the Rebels earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Lowndes Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Patrician Academy by a score of 28-20.

Since 2010, Lowndes Academy has gone a combined 39-46. Their 46.0% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class AA over the past eight seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Lowndes Academy has managed to compile a record of 150-117. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class AA and 15th in the AISA.

The Rebels will be under the direction of new head football coach Shane Moye as they enter the 2018 season.

The Lowndes Academy Rebels will play in Class AA region two during the 2018 season. The Rebels move up in classification to Class AA. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move.

With a little luck and some improvement, the Rebels could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region two this season.

The Rebels open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Sparta Academy on Friday, August 24 at Stuart McGehee Field. Last year the Sparta Academy Warriors finished with an overall record of 1-10 and in fifth place in Class A region one. The Warriors closed out the regular season with a loss to South Choctaw Academy by a score of 38-0.

Lowndes Academy and Sparta Academy have met a total of 16 times on the football field. The Rebels have a 10-6-0 record against the Warriors. They last met in 2017 with Lowndes Academy winning by a score of 41-8.

Lowndes Academy returns AISA All-State  offensive lineman Chase Little. He was named to the second team last season.
