Maplesville completed the 2017 season with a 11-1 record. The Red Devils cruised through the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record going into the post season. Last year Maplesville captured the region three title and a number one seed in the Class 1A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Maplesville lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Sweet Water team by a score of 26-21. The high-scoring Maplesville offense ranked 2nd in the AHSAA. They averaged 49.3 points a game. The Red Devils defense dominated most opponents as they ranked 14th in the AHSAA. The defense gave up just 10.8 points a game. Over the past two seasons the Red Devils have gone 25-1 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Maplesville has gone a combined 101-7. Their 94.0% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class 1A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Maplesville has gone a combined 253-59. Their 81.0% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class 1A and 2nd in the AHSAA. The Red Devils have been successful on the football field with twenty-two winning seasons during this time. Their last losing season was 2004. The Red Devils are led by head coach Brent Hubbert who is entering his fifteenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 154-24 over the past fourteen seasons at Maplesville. Under his direction the Red Devils have qualified for the playoffs a total of fourteen times. They have won ten region crowns with Coach Hubbert. The Maplesville Red Devils will play in Class 1A region three during the 2018 season. The Red Devils enter the 2018 season riding a 22 game regular season winning streak. They have won 17 straight games on their home turf at Red Devil Stadium. While most teams rebuild during the off season, Maplesville has been a consistent winner the past few years and will simply reload this season. The Red Devils enter the season with expectations of not only a region title but reaching the state championship game. They are considered one the favorites in region three and should be a team in the thick of the hunt to represent the South in the Class 1A Super Seven come December. The Red Devils have succeeded in reaching the playoffs every year since 2003 and this year should be no exception. The Red Devils open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Fultondale on Friday, August 31 at Wildcats Field. Last year the Fultondale Wildcats finished with an overall record of 11-1 and in first place in Class 3A region six. The Wildcats lost in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs to Randolph County by a score of 35-28. Maplesville and Fultondale have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Red Devils have a 2-0-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in with Maplesville returns 1A All-State running back Ryan Morrow. He was named to the second team last season. The Red Devils also return linebacker Timothy Bradley. He was named to the first team. The Red Devils also return defensive lineman Tristan Thetford.
