2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Northview finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Northview just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 6A region two with a 2-4 region record. The Cougars last playoff victory came during the 1994 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Northview was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Cougars want to be competitive. They only averaged 14.3 points a game. The Cougars would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-17 record. Since 2010, the Northview football program has struggled with a record of 23-58. Over the past 25 seasons, Northview has not won much with a record of 83-160. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 49th in Class 6A and 315th in the AHSAA. The Cougars are led by head coach Josh Parrish who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 3-7 record in his first season at Northview. The Cougars saw improvement from a 0-10 record the season before coach Parrish arrived. The Cougars have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Parrish. Coach Parrish's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 26-18 (59.1%). Over the course of his career, Coach Parrish's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times and won one region championship. The Northview Cougars will play in Class 6A region two during the 2018 season. This season, the Cougars will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region two. The Cougars open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Southside Selma on Friday, August 24 at Rip Hewes Stadium. Last year the Southside Selma Panthers finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in third place in Class 3A region three. The Panthers lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to Clarke County by a score of 56-8. This will be the second meeting between Northview and Southside Selma on the football field. The Cougars have a 1-0-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in with College prospects include: DaShawn Owens (6-4, 216) tight end, | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
