Patrician Academy completed the 2017 season with a 9-4 record. Last year Patrician Academy captured the region two title and a number one seed in the Class A playoffs. They finished region play with a 5-0 record. The Patrician Academy Saints claimed the AISA-A State Championship by defeating Chambers Academy 22-20 in Troy. Since 2010, Patrician Academy has gone a combined 62-34. Their 65.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class AA over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Patrician Academy has gone a combined 186-93. Their 67.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class AA and 5th in the AISA. The Saints are led by head coach Jonathan Lindsey who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 44-28 over the past six seasons at Patrician Academy. Under his direction the Saints have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Lindsey. Coach Lindsey led Patrician Academy to a state championship in 2017. Coach Lindsey's overall record as a head football coach in six season stands at 44-28 (61.1%). The Patrician Academy Saints will play in Class AA region two during the 2018 season. The Saints move up in classification to Class AA. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move. Region two will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season. The Saints should be considered one of the favorites for the region two championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. Don't be surprised if the Saints are making another deep run into the playoffs. The Saints have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2001 and expect to be included again when November rolls around. The Saints open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Southern Academy on Friday, August 24 at Hannah-Hesselman Field. Last year the Southern Academy Cougars finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in third place in Class A region two. The Cougars lost in the first round of the Class A playoffs to Crenshaw Christian by a score of 20-8. Patrician Academy and Southern Academy have met a total of 39 times on the football field. The Saints have a 27-12-0 record against the Cougars. They last met in 2017 with Patrician Academy winning by a score of 28-0. Patrician Academy returns AISA All-State receiver Blake Reid. He was named to the honorable mention team last season. The Saints also return athlete Garrett Lewis. He was named to the first team. The Saints also return offensive lineman Seth Koen.
