2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Red Level finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year Red Level finished eighth in Class 1A region two with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The defense allowed a team record 451 points last season. The Tigers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2010 season and would love to end that streak this year. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Red Level averaged scoring just 11.1 points a game. The Tigers also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 45.1 points a game. The Tigers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-17 record. Since 2010, the Red Level football program has struggled with a record of 15-66. Over the past 25 seasons, Red Level has managed to compile a record of 96-160. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 44th in Class 1A and 299th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2006. The Tigers are led by head coach Kenny Skipper who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 0-10 record in his first season at Red Level. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Skipper. The Red Level Tigers will play in Class 1A region two during the 2018 season. The Tigers enter the 2018 season in the middle of a 15 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Tigers will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region two. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Red Level will be to simply win some games. The Tigers open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Zion Chapel on Friday, August 31 at Crystal Spring Park. Last year the Zion Chapel Rebels finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in sixth place in Class 2A region three. The Rebels ended last season on a positive note with a win over Pleasant Home by a score of 27-22 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Red Level and Zion Chapel have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 1-3-0 record against the Rebels. They last met in 2011 with Zion Chapel winning by a score of 35-29. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
