 2018 Preview 


       Weaver completed the 2017 season with a 7-5 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 3A region five, the Bearcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Weaver reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Colbert Heights by a score of 36-35.

       Since 2010, Weaver has gone a combined 45-45. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 31st in Class 3A over the past eight seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Weaver has managed to compile a record of 126-138. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 36th in Class 3A and 203rd in the AHSAA.




       The Bearcats are led by head coach Daryl Hamby who is entering his ninth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 45-45 over the past eight seasons at Weaver. Under his direction the Bearcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hamby.

       Coach Hamby's overall record as a head football coach in eight season stands at 45-45 (50.0%).

       The Weaver Bearcats will play in Class 3A region six during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Bearcats remain in 3A but move from region five over to region six.

       The Bearcats will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region six this season.

      

       The Bearcats open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Cleburne County on Friday, August 24 at Bill Bryan Stadium. Last year the Cleburne County Tigers finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in sixth place in Class 5A region four. The Tigers closed out the regular season with a loss to Fyffe by a score of 49-7.

       Weaver and Cleburne County have met a total of 26 times on the football field. The Bearcats have a 12-14-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2013 with Cleburne County winning by a score of 44-20.

       Weaver returns 3A All-State  defensive lineman Isaiah Woods. He was named to the second team last season.

Thomasville scored 54 points against Gulf Shores in the first quarter of a game in 2003. They managed to hang on for an 81-14 win.
