The Patriots will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region three this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2011 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2022. The Patriots open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent John Carroll on Friday, August 19 at Waldrop Stadium. Last year the John Carroll Cavaliers finished with an overall record of 5-5 and in fifth place in Class 5A region five. The Cavaliers ended last season on a positive note with a win over St. Clair County by a score of 49-0 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Homewood and John Carroll have met a total of 36 times on the football field. The Patriots have a 27-7-2 record against the Cavaliers.
