2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Central finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Central just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 5A region three with a 2-4 region record. Central was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Falcons want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.7 points a game. Since 2010, the Central football program has struggled with a record of 35-88. Over the past 25 seasons, Central has managed to compile a record of 106-153. Their 41.0% winning percentage ranks 46th in Class 6A and 281st in the AHSAA. The Falcons are led by head coach Rodney Bivens Jr who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 6-14 over the past two seasons at Central. The Falcons have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Bivens Jr. Coach Bivens Jr's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 6-14 (30.0%). The Central Falcons will play in Class 6A region four during the 2022 season. The Falcons move up in classification to Class 6A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move. It will be an uphill battle for the Falcons if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region four this season. The Falcons open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Tuscaloosa County on Friday, August 19 at Wildcat Field. Last year the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in eighth place in Class 7A region three. The Wildcats closed out the regular season with a loss to Northridge by a score of 37-6. Central and Tuscaloosa County have met a total of 32 times on the football field. The Falcons have a 16-16-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2013 with Tuscaloosa County winning by a score of 46-26. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
